Yesterday, Cluj-Napoca City Hall hosted the signing of the contract for the construction of the Cluj Metropolitan Train. The contract covers the design and execution of railway infrastructure works for the Cluj Metropolitan Train project, as well as the ancillary works required to ensure passenger accessibility and safety.
The contract includes:
- modernisation of the railway infrastructure and of the lines in the sectioning points;
- the development of 23 stations and halts (8 newly built and the modernisation of existing ones);
- construction of platforms accessible to persons with disabilities;
- construction of at-grade, underground and grade-separated pedestrian crossings;
- construction of an underground road passage in the area of Fabricii de Zahăr Street in Cluj-Napoca;
- modernisation of telecommunications and railway safety installations;
- installation of video surveillance systems in stations;
- rerouting of communication routes and modernisation of level crossings;
- construction of a depot at Bonțida for the parking, maintenance and washing of up to 10 trains;
- development of Park & Ride facilities in the station areas.
The contract was signed between the Municipality of Cluj-Napoca, acting as the leader of the contracting authority, and the CONA – ZUE – UTI consortium, for the development of the infrastructure required to operate the Cluj Metropolitan Train under modern, safe and accessible conditions.
